Registration Requirements for Owners

• Mandatory Registration: ALL radiation-emitting equipment must be registered with the appropriate State Radiation Control Agency.

• Pre-Operation Registration: In 22 States, equipment registration must be completed prior to operation of the machine.

• Post-Installation Registration: The remaining States typically require registration to be completed within 30 days of installation.

• Manufacturer Reporting: By law, every manufacturer or distributor who sells or installs a radiation machine must report the sale and installation to the appropriate State Radiation Control Agency. Reporting deadlines vary by state, ranging from 10 to 90 days.

Vendor and Assembler Registration

Manufacturers, distributors, and service providers who sell, lease, transfer, install, or repair radiation machines must also comply with State registration requirements:

• Vendor/Assembler Registration: 36 States currently require these entities to register with the applicable State Radiation Control Agency before providing services.

• Proof of Registration: As an OWNER, you are responsible for verifying that your manufacturer, distributor, or service provider is registered with your State Radiation Control Agency.

State regulations require owners to refuse services from any vendor, assembler, or installer who cannot provide proof of valid registration.
